The awards celebrate the best copper building projects in the region, highlighting their craftsmanship and innovation. Projects of any size and type, completed in the last three years, and featuring copper, brass, or bronze elements are eligible for submission. For the submission process, entrants only need to provide basic project details and photographs. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2023, and there is no cost to submit. “This awards program is our opportunity to showcase the craftsmanship of the men and women who continue to utilize copper’s natural beauty, workability, and resilience,” says Larry Peters, project manager and architectural applications specialist at CDA. The submissions will be evaluated based on design, craftsmanship, integration of copper alloys, excellence in innovation or restoration, and sustainable building strategies. Winners will receive an award, extensive exposure in architectural and construction magazines, recognition in CDA’s educational and industry outreach programs, as well as other media. Last year’s winners included an angular chapel in Utah, the 202-year-old Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., a Montreal mega-hospital, and Chicago’s iconic Adler Planetarium dome.
