Image: Modjeski and Masters Modjeski and Masters, a nationwide leader in the design, inspection, and rehabilitation of all bridge types, recently announced the hire of Laura Rampersad, P.E. as Regional Director of the firm’s new office opening in Michigan. In her role, Rampersad will be responsible for managing Modjeski and Masters’ operations in the state and surrounding region. Her extensive experience includes overseeing conventional road and interchange design projects, as well as Design-Build work. Throughout her career, Laura has been a part of many notable projects, having worked primarily in Michigan with additional experience in Illinois and Wisconsin. Her projects have covered all levels of work, from scoping and location studies to final design. “Laura is the ideal leader to open and grow our newest office in Grand Rapids,” said Modjeski and Masters President and CEO Mike Britt. “With her 27 years of experience and portfolio of transportation projects, we have no doubt that she will maintain relationships with our existing clients and add new ones as well. We are confident she is the right person to continue the proud legacy of Modjeski and Masters in the greater Michigan region.”   Bowman Hires New Director of Transportation in the Carolinas Bowman is pleased to announce the addition of a new Director of Transportation to their Carolina-based team. Botts Smith, P.E. joins the organization with a wealth of experience leading the development of new road and bridge construction projects and transportation studies.  With extensive experience in building effective and successful teams, Smith will lead the department focused on expanding Bowman’s transportation management services with specialization in private land development and partnering with various municipalities and departments of transportation. With more than 35 years of experience as a civil engineer, Smith’s ability to successfully lead projects from design through to construction management will be a game changer. Through his leadership, much of the emphasis will be on assisting clients in the design, planning, financing, construction management and scheduling for large complex transportation projects including future municipal, international public and private civil works, disaster recovery, and traditional at-risk construction services. Image: Stantec Dr. Tony Hunley named Stantec’s new Bridge Sector Leader Leading global design firm Stantec has named Tony Hunley, P.E., S.E., Ph.D., its new Bridge Sector Leader. In this role, he will lead the firm’s strategic direction for the Bridge practice to facilitate continued growth, diversify services, drive innovation, and enhance technical excellence. He is taking over for Dr. Reed Ellis, who will remain part of the Bridge sector leadership team. Currently ranked a Top 10 Bridge Firm by Engineering News-Record (ENR), Stantec’s Bridge team provides its clients services through the full bridge lifecycle, including planning, design, inspection, rehabilitation, and maintenance on structures that span the distances between where we are and where we want to go. In his more than 25-year career, Dr. Hunley has provided project and program management, design, and technical oversight across every phase of complex bridge projects. He is currently serving as program manager for the 22-firm consultant team delivering the Bridging Kentucky Program—an aggressive Kentucky Transportation Cabinet bridge preservation and replacement initiative to address critical bridges across the state. In the past two years, nearly 380 of the more than 1,100 bridges evaluated by the program team have progressed to construction.
